I had a brief scare yesterday afternoon with regards to my website. The sidebar was hanging three miles down the right hands side of the screen and needless to say the site looked like something the cat dragged in.

I assumed that the error was caused by the latest upgrade to WordPress. That’s what made sense in my mind, but you know what they say about assumptions. The fact is that while my technical knowledge is above average, sometimes that just means I know enough to be dangerous. At heart I am not a techie!

Feeling over my head I immediately posted to MomMasterminds with a desperate plea for help.

Of course, fellow founding member Lynette Chandler from Tech Based Marketing came to the rescue and quickly identified that the problem had nothing to do with the upgrade, but rather with the plug-in I had used to make my latest post.

I had tried to use a fancy calendar to post about my speaking appearance coming up during Small Business Week in La Crete next month. I’ll be presenting “Guerilla Marketing – “How to Make a Big Impact on a Small Budget” – a subject near and dear to my heart! on October 20th.

Not that I think anyone currently reading this blog will be able to make this live event…but I thought it would be nice to feature just in case.

Evidently, the plug in doesn’t play nice with my set-up here and all was well as soon as I deleted that post.

Just goes to show – that even so-called gurus (I know, but that’s totally what they called me in the speaker literature for the Small Business Week Event in La Crete) need to call on the experts when the chips are down.
