Tools for Website Success
Jan 26th, 2009 | By Patrysha | Category: Online MarketingIf you are developing your own website for your small business, it’s important to make sure your website looks good for all your visitors. You want them to see the site the way you meant it to be seen and not all askew. After all, the way they see the site may be the only chance you’ll have to make a good impression.
This is a service that your web developer or designer will have provided for you, but is one that many small businesses miss when they design their own.
Different browsers read code differently and if you’re using a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) program to build your site, this could potentially present a problem.
Checking your website thoroughly could be a time consuming process if you had to load up every possible browser onto your own computer to see what it looks like to your potential customers.
Luckily, that’s not necessary.
There are sites like Browsershots which you can access to check the appearance of your website in many different browsers.
You’ll want to check that visitors with the browsers that visit your site (you can find this out from your stats program) are seeing your site the way you intended. If you’re just launching and don’t have stats available for your site yet, then you’ll want to do a more comprehensive check.
If the sites don’t look the way you want in other browsers, you’ll need to make adjustments and re-test until everything is looking good.
