Revisiting Sesame Street

With social media exploding at lightning pace is it any wonder that someone caught between the offline and online worlds wouldn’t feel a bit of a pull towards simpler times? And I wonder over and again if someone other than me doesn’t see the beauty in the simple things that Sesame Street taught us that could be used to market our businesses today with all the new technology that abounds.
Like co-operation…
We all know that customer service is a huge piece of the sales cycle. If it is deemed lacking or substandard, a sale (and all future sales that customer may have potentially made) could be lost. Thousands of dollars can be lost in the blink of an eye and yet…
Most small business can’t afford to pay $400 an hour for a professional trainer to come in and give their staff the foundations of good customer service, or pay the $2500 or so it would cost to have a training and resource manual made for their staff…
But if they got together with a few other businesses in their community who need similar training and products to help increase the effectiveness of their customer service skills, it could suddenly become quite affordable for all to benefit from the professional trainer’s services.
Co-operation.
It can work as well on main street as it did on Sesame Street if we just use our imagination.
